On December 10th Fast and Furious 6 is released on DVD. I'll be there ASAP to pick up my copy and my free time that week is going to be spent watching the entirety of the series. Hell if enough people are willing and have the time, I say we put together group viewings of the series.

Look. I'm sad Paul died. Just like everyone else is. But ...

I'll just be that guy ...

The F&F movies suck. All of them. No exception.

No realism. 3241253123+E1 gears in a gearbox. Mysteriously failing manifolds. Promoting street racing by making it look cool and easy/safe. I'll stop here. There wasn't/isn't much good about any of them. There are worse offenders, though ... like torque, the single most realistic motorcycle movie ever.

A lot of people disagree with you ….

"Having earned $2,380,084,668 as of October 22, 2013 at the worldwide box office, it has become Universal Studios' biggest franchise of all time. "

No shit. In the same way the Die Hard series is horrible. But it's entertainment, and for many of us it's one of the first things that got us into cars.

Not all of them... The first one was pretty fun, and it wasn't as over the top as the more recent ones. Of course, it had the most festooned cars of all of them, but other than that it's still a movie I'll gladly watch whenever it's on.

That's fine. Still think it's shit. Oprah rakes it in too. Still think she's shit.

Maybe, but everyone knows die hard is just entertainment. You said yourself that this is what got you interested in cars.

Has die hard gotten you interested in blowing shit up?

FF got me interested in cars, Die Hard got me interested in being a bad ass. Turns out cars are easier. But I can bet Die Hard got a lot of people interested in big guns, in the military, or helping people in general. Because sometimes a movie is about for more than what you see on the surface. Die Hard is about helping people to the extent of your abilities and FF is about community and family.

OK, you might have some point about the guns.

I just cannot understand what it is about FF that might make you interested in cars, though.

Well... the fast and the furious and 2 fast and 2 furious were still the movies that made me(and a lot of others on here) really get into cars. They are part of the reason I am on here right now. They might suck to you, but they don't suck to everyone...

So stop being "that guy" and shut up.

I'm surprised, though. People over here get into car culture because of rally and racing.

Then you aren't going to understand a lot...

Nah, it must be a cultural thing.

Well.... I am from europe and I am 18 years old. Of course I watched racing(mostly fromula 1) on TV before watching fast and furious, but watching Schumacher win every race couldn't possibly get you into cars.

The main reasons for me being interested in cars are 1) the fast and furious franchise and 2) the need for speed franchise and I doubt that I am alone with that.

Well, i dno of they have rallies where you are?

That's what got me into cars. Not so much F1 ...

We ahve ralies over here, but they don't show them on TV and of course I went to some with my Dad, but Rallies or generally racing didn't happen within reach very often and as a little boy I didn't get the thrill of driving for 4 hours just to stand at some hill and watch cars go by.... I get it now, but I didn't realise as a boy how my father could really enjoy this....
